Apply a Screen Protector

Your iPod, PSP or other electronic device is properly a big investment and one of the most easily damaged parts of it is the screen. It is understandable therefore that you want to protect it.
This guide will give you the basic idea of applying a screen protector, the preparations and some useful tips.

  Steps

  1. Use any method to get steam in a room. A suggestion is a hot shower, which fills the room with steam. When the steam has subsided, there will be less dust in the air than usual. This is the best time to apply the screen protector.
  2. Use a cloth to remove most of the grease and dust from the screen. Save getting your microfiber cloth dirty. You want to remove as much dust as possible, especially if it just came from the factory packaging.
  3. Lay the microfiber cloth on the screen to keep the dust off.
  4. Prepare the screen protector.
  5. Remove the cloth from the screen, align the protector, and place it on the screen.
  6. Using a credit card (as a scorer), carefully remove all the air bubbles.

  Tips

  • This is best done after removing the factory packaging.
  • Keep the sticky side of the screen protector down, dust is less likely to get stuck when your applying it.
  • Stay calm, there's nothing worse than a shaking hand when doing this.
  • Don't touch the sticky part of the screen protector, hold it like you should hold CDs (i.e. without touching the bottom).
  • Alternatively, you can stick a piece of tape on the side of the screen protector (non-sticky side) to make it easier to place.
  • Putting a drop of soap water on the screen before applying the screen protector can make bubble removal easier. Just be careful not to apply too much.

  Warnings

  • Do not get frustrated.
  • Dust is everywhere, take too long and it will land on your screen.
  • You only really have one shot at it.

  Things You'll Need

  • A good quality screen protector
  • A microfiber cloth
  • A soft cloth
  • A credit card or similar
  • At least 10 minutes
  • Patience
